Colour Me March

Get ready for Cheltenham Races, #ColourMeMarch, Ladies Day 11th March!

"In 2015 Cheltenham Racecourse is looking to The Festival. From hats to shoes, to scarves to nails, it's all about colour on Ladies Day. For the first time ever colour at The Festival will be celebrated and judged via social media only.

It's all about colour, fun and sharing what you're wearing."

How exciting! Cheltenham Racecourse are doing an amazing competition - #ColourMeMarch - and by simply sharing what you would wear Ladies Day you could win some amazing prizes! This year they're looking to bring some colour to the prestigious event and will be judging a rainbow of outfits. Ladies Day is always a parade of outfits, from overwhelming hats to beautiful dresses, as the fashion fans turn up for the best jumping action in the horsey calendar. It sounds like the perfect excuse to dress up, doesn't it! You can find all the details HERE, and be sure to use the #ColourMeMarch.

So this got me thinking what colours would I wear, and I started going back through some old posts for inspiration...

YELLOW

Yellow simply makes me smile, it's is sunshine, summer, daffodils and buttercups all rolled into one deliriously happy shade. It works all the way from bright and zesty to beautifully soft lemon and buttery tones. People will always admire a yellow outfit and compliment you on how 'brave' you are to wear it, but it's really not that hard once you've found your shade from the plethora available. It makes you pop like a little ray of sunshine on a grey day and people tend to gravitate towards it, as it's such a happy colour. Recently it's also been taking over the red carpet and you can play at being Belle from 'Beauty and the Beast'. So when life gives you lemons, wear yellow!

P.s. It looks great with a tan so get the sun shimmer out!

1- Yellow Bow Alice Band; New Look - Accessorise with this cute, sweet alice band, it's also a nice alternative to a hat!
2- Bell Sleeve Coat;  Zara - In case the weather turns grey, (which no doubt it will!) this coat is perfect - with a flared cut and long bell sleeve, as well as some big bold buttons down the front for some detail.
3- Yellow Snake Clutch Bag; Miss Selfridge - You can't forget a clutch bag for all the essentials and I love the snake-skin texture, it works really well in colour as well and gives a sugary shade some edge.
4- Yellow Snake Print Mid Heel Court Shoes;  River Island - More snake-skin, I just love it! These are fairly sophisticated shoes, with a bit of an edge and are the perfect daytime style as they're not too high.
5- Yellow Mesh Panel Bodycon Dress; River Island - This bright, zesty yellow is pretty show-stopping and has a bit of oh-la-la with the mesh panels.
6- Flower Collar; Topshop - If you're unsure about going all out in yellow at first start with a statement necklace. The flower detail on this one is perfect.
7- Halter Culotte Jumpsuit; Topshop - A jumpsuit is a great alternative to a dress and the wide-leg trousers are perfectly balanced by the cut-out waist details.

CORAL

Coral is soft and feminine, it's loveable and sweet and more subtly romantic than red and pink, as a pretty girly colour. It reminds me of soft, coral rose petals. It's a colour that's supposed to give off warmth and calm, as well as being a gorgeously summery colour. The cherry on the cake is that it works well with all skin tones - adding a pop to pale skin and perfectly complimenting a tan. As a really fresh colour it requires minimal effort and is fantastic for colour-blocking. Any excuse to get a maxi dress is great and they look fantastic in coral as it's a fairly soft colour it doesn't look too much!

1- Launch Platform Sandals; Topshop - The bold shape adds an edge to the feminine colour and they're easier for stomping about in with their chunky heels.
2- Coral Lace Mini Skirt; River Island - Lace is the perfect compliment to coral. The intricate design and scalloped edging on this skirt oozes gorgeousness.
3- Coral Push Lock Clutch; New Look - This is the perfect little accompaniment, the lock adds lovely details and you can use it with the delicate chain or as a clutch.
4- Coral Collarless Coat; New Look - This is a really soft and beautiful shade of coral and looks stunning in this ladylike style.
5- Petites Coral V Neck Playsuit; Miss Selfridge - A playsuit definitely gives you a little more freedom to dance about fuelled by champers! The V neck on this one is also very flattering.
6- Coral Leather Ankle Strap Heels; New Look - From chunky sandals to barely there, this sandal style isn't going away and it's easy and elegant to wear with anything.
7- Coral I Phone 4 Cover; Miss Selfridge - Don't forget about the extras! Coral and bling - a match made in heaven!

PASTELS

This is a hue full of spring and sweet treats. It's mini-eggs, cupcakes, candy-floss and frosting and the ice-cream shades are sugary and cute, looking good enough to eat! Pastels are girly and adorable, they can be almost sickly sweet, but in a good way! And they are a classic Spring staple. As well as being ridiculously girly, pastels can also look sophisticated in the right cut, whilst remaining very delicate and soft. Pastels are light and airy, due to having more white pigmentation and let's be honest no-one can look miserable in pastels! If you don't want to go full on sugary sweet, add pastel accents to a nude base and get in on the trend.

1- Lilac Round Sunglasses; River Island - Fingers-crossed the sun comes out! These will add the perfect pastel accent to any outfit.
2- Fringe Lace Pencil Skirt; Topshop - How amazing is this skirt!! I love all the intricate details, it's truly beautiful to look at and the fringing also adds a little extra length, making it just lovely and classy.
3- Scatter Necklace Jumper; Topshop - The detail is gorgeous with scattered gems in this mint jumper. It would look perfect with a rose 50's style prom skirt and some barely there ankle strap heels - maybe even the coral ones above!
4- Kitten Heel Studded Shoe; Zara - You can't get much better than these sky blue, studded heels, they are simply gorgeous, ladylike and pretty.
5- Matte Nails in Breakfast Club; Topshop - Don'f forget about the details and pastel nails are a great way to take on the trend, lemon nails are ideal.
6- Cornflower Blue Lace Cropped Boxy Jacket; River Island - I think the boxy style of this jacket is great, the 3D lace flowers add some unexpected texture and let's be honest, it's simply dreamy.
7- Crochet Trim Ankle Socks; Topshop - Dress in pastel from your top to your toes, these would look perfect peeping out of a chunky pair of tan sandals.

Remember you find all the details HERE - what would you wear for Ladies Day? Don't forget #ColourMeMarch!
