Blank Canvas

Oooooh it's been so nice and summery and sunny lately!

An all-white outfit is perfect for a Friday gin evening in the sun.

I think an all-white outfit is really lovely for the summer. It's so clean and fresh, with a whole load of different ways to wear it - from romantic broderie anglaise, to pure minimalist cuts and flowing silks, or even lacy cut-outs. And lets not forget how good it looks with a summer tan.

It can be a little scary to venture out into a world of red wine and ketchup smothered BBQ burgers in an all-white ensemble, but hey, what's life without a little risk and trust me it will pay off. It's also amazing as it will go with everything else in your wardrobe - any colour of shoes, handbag jewellery - anything - it's a neutral, pure base just waiting to be layered up.

Saying all this one thing I can never decide on is white jeans - sometimes I love them and sometimes I worry that I look like a bit of a Five reject. These ones though are in my comfort zone. They're more off-white, a more creamy colour, so still in fitting with the summery trend but a little more comfortable.

If I'm going for a white trousers, white top combo I like to make sure the top isn't too fitted as there's nothing worse than an overly tight white top. This option is from Topshop and was part of their basic range so came in a whole load of different colours. It fits really nicely and the silky material floats rather than clings - the only problem is that it tends to crease reeeeeeally easily.

Snakeskin print pumps are added to give it all a little texture and pattern. I have to admit I'm not one to shop in Next often, I don't really know why but it's not a place I tend to venture into. However, I do find their shoes to be really comfortable and well fitting. These pumps slide on like slippers and are uber comfy - plus I adore the little tassle detail.

I popped on some gold and black jewellery and loaded up my yellow bag and made my way to the gins. I got this bag a couple of years ago from some lovely friends as a birthday present and have used it every summer since. Not only for the fact it's my all-time favourite colour, but also because I love the box-ladylike shape of it.

The pop of yellow colour makes an all-white-outfit a little more interesting, but it wouldn't have to be a bag you could use. Bright shoes, colourful jewellery - anything really could be popped on top to jazz up a white ensemble - even just a really bright lip colour - your wardrobe's your oyster.

All-white-ensemble - winning!
