Boutique of Molly: Dora Dress

I was so pleased when a little pink parcel arrived and inside was this little gem of a dress.


Boutique of Molly is a lovely little online shop, with a gorgeous selection of dresses - as well as all your other wardrobe needs! And when they asked to work together I couldn't resist their newly stocked 'Dora' Swing Dress with Lace-Up Detail.

I've seen this criss-cross lace-up detail everywhere at the moment, from tops to dresses to skirts, it's been spied all over the shop. But, I must confess at first I really wasn't sure about it, I don't even really know why, it just felt like a style that wasn't for me. However, I decided (after seeing Mills Mackintosh in a lace-up, obvs) that it was time to give it a go.

And guess what.... I love it!


It turns out it's actually really nice to try something a little bit out of your comfort zone and be delightfully surprised! The extra lace-up detail gives an otherwise plain and simple black dress an edge, the extra detail definitely makes it more interesting and eye-catching - it makes a statement. Plus, it definitely ticks a trend box.

The dress itself is also a really lovely swing-style that's super comfy and easy to wear. I just added on a black belt to clinch it in at the waist for a bit more shape - but it looks lovely just left to hang loosely as well. The fact it's black also makes it really easy to wear and the long floaty sleeves are perfect for Autumn.

It's pretty much an all-round winner.

It's a dress that's screaming out for a hat, so pop on a fedora and some heeled black boots and you're good to go!
