Yellow Styles

So as the majority of you know I have a little bit of love (obsession) for anything that's yellow...

I was more than just a little bit delighted when I unwrapped the present that my sisters got me for my birthday. This waistcoat is pretty much 'me' as an item of clothing. I feel like it's everything I adore - the gorgeous yellow colour, the tailored cut and the textured finish - it's simply perfect.

It is the perfect balance between a little bit of 'fun' and a little bit of 'sophistication'. The colour can't fail to make anyone smile and brings some sunshine with it wherever it goes, I dare you to even try to be grumpy while wearing it! The waistcoat cut is the chic part, it's sophisticated and grown-up and has been seen everywhere recently. I love how the smiley colour and the beautiful cut balance each other out and create a stylish piece that's definitely not on the serious side.

I wore it for a lazy day by the beach in Aberdeen, complete with brunch by the sand and running away from freezing waves that rolled up in a mischievous manner.

And as usual things always get a bit silly when the sister morphs from History Graduate into Mario Testino...

I just wore a simple black t-shirt, that maybe makes me look a bit like I'm channelling a bumble-bee, but oh well! I've got quite a few white and black simple tops dotted throughout my wardrobe. Some plain, some silky, some slogan, they are definite wardrobe staples and are easily paired with more statement pieces, like this waistcoat.

The comfiest pair of jeans - plenty stretch for the full breakfast that was to come. I've been living in these jeans come the weekend, but I'm getting a bit ewwy about the wash of them now, plus they really are getting a teensy bit too worn. I've got my eye on a pair of Topshop Joni jeans that I'm going to snap up next pay check, but for now these are darn easy to throw on and don't look too shabby in the end.

Footwear meant my all time favourite weekend shoes, the Keds and Oasis collaboration, where getting an outing. They are so comfy and don't rip my feet to shreds, which most new shoes tend to do, and the pattern just adds a bit of stand-out detail to your outfit. Lovely dupley.

All you need now is a slightly rough family, a beach and a bacon roll or two.

I loved wearing the waistcoat for a more casual look, but it also will work really well more dressed-up and I can't wait to pair it with tailored trousers and silky white tops.

Waistcoat - Swiss present
Top - River Island
Jeans - Miss Selfridge
